September 21, 1977 - "Susan Lynn Keck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Keck RD2 Wellsboro, departed on September 13th for the Navy Recruit Training Center at Orlando, Florida for eight weeks of training. Upon completion of recruit training Susan will have two weeks leave before reporting to the Navy Service School Command at Pennsacola, Florida for training in the communication technician rating.
Susan enlisted in the Navy's Delayed Entry Program on December 9 1976. She is a 1977 graduate of Wellsboro High School."
December 7, 1977 - "Navy Seaman Apprentice Susan L. Keck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton A. Keck of RD2, Wellsboro has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida.
During the the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic occupational fields.
Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history, and first aid.
A 1977 graduate of Wellsboro High School, she joined the Navy in September 1977.".

December 7, 1961 - "Mrs. Glenna I. Butler, formerly of Wellsboro, Pa., who made her home with a son, Miles F. Butler at 67 Perry Avenue, died early Sunday morning, December 3, 1961 at Corning Hospital, where she had been a patient four days. She was the widow of Ivan E. Butler who died in 1952.
Mrs. Butler was born in Tioga County, Pa., July 10, 1886 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Constance Bailey. She had made her home with her son since the death of her husband.
Surviving are: two sons, Miles of Corning and Albert of Asaph, Pa., a daughter, Mrs. William Jubera of Corning; a brother, Fred Bailey of Elmira; a half sister, Mrs. Edith Bailey of Elmira, 16 grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday with the Rev. Edward Scholz of Elmira, officiating. Burial was in Wilawana, Pa.".
