"WILMERDING, CHARLES H. -- Born at New York city, August 19, 1858. Son of Charles H. and Harriet Burnham Russ Wilmerding. His first paternal ancestor in America was his great-great-grandfather, who came from Brunswick, Germany, and settled in New York. On his mother's side the first known ancestor came from England in 1617, and settled in New England. Charles Henry Wilmerding received his education partly in Germany and France, and in this country attended Yale College. He came to Chicago in 1888, having been educated as a civil engineer, and practiced that profession from 1879 until coming to this city. Since that time he has been engaged as an electrical engineer. Mr. Wilmerding has paid considerable attention to electrical matters and has become identified with several corporations of that character. He is the general manager of the Chicago Arc Light and Power Co.; is president of the Chicago Sectional Electric Underground Co., and president of the Compress Wheel Co.
