Katharine O. Stanley-Brown, Descendant of Garfield, to Be Wed to Frank E. House 3d.
The engagement of Miss Katharine Oliver Stanley-Brown to Frank E. House 3d, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. House, Jr. of New Haven Conn., has been announced by her mother, Mrs. Rudolph Stanley-Brown of 55 West Fifty-fifth Street and Nantucket Island, Mass.
The bride-to-be, daughter of the late Mr. Stanley-Brown of Washington, an architect and author, attended the Madeira School in Greenway, Va., and was graduated from the Bearley School and Vassar College, class of '49.
She is a granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles Augustus Oliver of Philadelphia and a great-granddaughter of President Garfield. The bride-to-be is with the National Citizens Commission for the Public Schools in New York.
Mr. House, who was graduated from the Pomfret (Conn.) School and Yale College, class of '43, served with the Army Air Forces in the Pacific theatre during the second World War. He is a member of the faculty of the Loomis School in Windsor, Conn.
The prospective bridegroom is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Prescott Bush of Columbus, Ohio, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Edwin House of Duluth, Minn.".
