September 25, 1943 - "NEW HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 24—Mr. and Mrs. Charles Soutter Campbell of this city and Fishers Island, N. Y., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Anne, to Ensign Stuart Holmes Clement Jr., USNR, son of Lieut Stuart Holmes Clement, USNR, and Mrs. Holmes of this city.
Miss Campbell is a granddaughter of the late Air. and Mrs. Charles Colgate Abbe of New York and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rikarby Campbell of Essex Fells, N. J. She was graduated from Chatham Hall last June. Ensign Clement-, whose father was formerly associated with Yale University and is now stationed at the University of Virginia, with the V-12 Naval Reserve program, is a grandson of Samuel Prescott Bush
of Columbus, Ohio, and of Mrs. Stephen Merrell Clement and the late Mr. Clement of Buffalo. He was graduated from Groton and in 1943 from Yale. He was commissioned in June after being graduated from the United States Naval Reserve Midshipman School New York.".
