May 2, 1901 - "Merton Emerick Accidentally Wounded at Pearl. Brought to home in Boise. Bullet Extracted and the Young Man Now Resting Comfortably - Was Loading the Weapon, a Revolver, When it was Discharged.
Merton Emerick, a well known young man of this city, who resides with his parents at 2691 Tenth street, was brought home from Neal Tuesday suffering from a bullet wound in the left thigh, Physicians were called at once. young Emerick is now resting quite easily, with no danger apprehended.
It seems that the young man was at the Neal mining district, and was loading his revolver, an old-style 32 calibre with long barrel. He was lying on one side. As he continued the loading he became a little careless, and the gun was accidentally discharged. The bullet passed almost entirely through the thigh, making a somewhat painful but not dangerous wound.
The ball was extracted Tuesday afternoon, the successful operation giving almost immediate relief. Yesterday the young man was in the most cheerful spirits, and received many friends who had heard of the accident." (Note incorrect spelling of Myrton).

June 6, 1898 - "Mrs. J. C. Emerick and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Burnie Emerick, left yesterday for Ogden. When they return they will bring back with them the latter's son, who has been attending school there. [I suspect that "Burnie" is either an error or a nickname.]"

From The Sumner Press (Sumner, IL).
August 8, 1901 - "Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Emerick, of Boise City, Idaho, are visiting Mr. E's nephew, G. W. Emerick, of this township. Mr. Emerick is a sheep-ranchman, and came to Chicago with a trainload of sheep, 4,000 in all. He has 23,000 sheep on the ranch."

November 12, 1902 - "Associated Woll Growers' Company Gets the Final Lot - - Prices are strong.
Wesley Paul, western representative of the Associated Wool Growers company, returned from Boise, where he landed the last big wool clip remaining unsold this year. The clip is that of J.C. Emerick & Sons and amounts to 170,000 pounds.
Just before closing with Mr. Paul, Mr. Emerick declined an offer of 14 cents a pound for his wool, preferring to send it to the wool gropers organization on consignment, to be sold direct to the mills.
The wool clip of 1902 is now practically cleaned up, and the market in the east is strong, prices running a cent to a cent and a half higher than when the bulk of the clip was sold.".
