December 9, 1929 - "Jacksonville Girl Takes Honors With Declaration Here. WAR DENOUNCED.
Mars, god of war, was scathingly denounced Sunday night by none young aspirants for county declamatory honors in the Prince of Peace contest held at the Presbyterian Church.
War was pictured by the youthful orators as a surviving trait of savagery, and when the orations were finished, Miss Pauline Wemmer, representing the Jacksonville M.E. Church was declared a winner. She was presented a silver medal. Miss Priscilla Wells, Amesville, won second place ion the contest.".

December 29, 1926 - "Joe Wemmer, who for the last twelve days has been suffering with violent hiccoughs is resting a little easier. Mr. Wemmer's condition was so serious that his children were summoned home.".
