April 2, 1943 - "MISS MARY MORSE PROSPECTIVE BRIDE. Kin of Telegraph inventor to Be Married to Midshipman Richard Osborne in June. SHE IS STANFORD ALUMNA. Her Fiance, Grandson of Late Thomas Mott Osborne, Was Graduated from Harvard.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F.B. Morse of Pebble Beach, Calif., have announced here the engagement of their daughter, Mary, to Midshipman Richard Osborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lithgow Osborne of Auburn, N.Y. The wedding is planned for June.
Miss Morse was graduated from the Dominican Convent in San Rafael and from Stanford University. She is a member of the San Francisco Spinsters. The prospective bride is a granddaughter of the late Tirey L. Ford of San Francisco.
Her father, formerly of Boston, is a grandson and namesake of the inventor of the telegraph and is an alumnus of Yale, where he captained the football team in 1906. He is president of the Del Monte Properties Company, a director of the Croker First National Bank and is now in charge of operations of the Del Monte Pre-Flight School of the United States Navy.
The bridegroom-elect was graduated this year from Harvard, where he was a member of the Delphic Club and Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770, and was on the staff of the Harvard Crimson. He is now training at a midshipmen's school in this city and expects to receive his commission in the Naval Reserve on June 16.
Midshipman Osborne is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mott Osborne and of Countess Raben-Levetzau and the late Count Frederik-Levetzau of Aalholm, Denmark. His father formerly was in the diplomatic service, stationed in Berlin and Copenhagen, and later served as Conservation Commissioner of New York State. He is now residing in Washington, where he is in the Office of Foreign Relief Operations."
