July 11, 1900 - "Maimed on the Fourth. Rain marred the largely -attended celebration of the Fourth at Blossburg, but a much more serious drawback than that made itself felt before the festivity was over. Mr. Harry B. Kingsley, a young man from Mansfield, well known in this borough, had his right hand mangled terribly in the evening, while in front of Smith & Landon's jewelry store, engaged, with friends, in firing giant firecrackers.
The cracker which did the fearful work had been lighted twice, but failed to explode, and when picked up by Mr. Kingsley and lighted the third time, there were only two inches of the fuse left. He lighted the fuse and was about to throw the cracker in the roadway, when he saw a horse and buggy approaching, and as he hesitated considerately [sic], the great cracker exploded in his hand. The first and second fingers were torn off bodily and the thumb and fourth finger were lacerated terribly.
Mr. Kingsley was removed immediately to the Cottage Hospital where his injury was treated and he was made as comfortable as possible. He has just finished his second year as a student in the Philadelphia Dental College, and it would seem that his injury would prevent his following his chosen profession.
The large plate glass window of the jewelry store, near which Mr. Kingsley stood when his terrible misfortune befell him, was demolished entirely by the concussive force of the explosion."
July 10, 1912 - "The New Era flouring mill on North Main Street was sold on Monday to the Equity Society, of Wellsboro, by C.S. Kingsley & Co. Possession will be given on Monday next. Harry B. Kingsley, for several years past manager of the mill, will remain with the new owners a few weeks.".

From Biography of Charles Sullings Kingsley from The History of Tioga County, 1897.
"Charles Sullings Kingsley was born in Pittsford, Vermont, June 13, 1844, a son of Ralph R. and Sarah (Sullings) Kingsley, both natives of Vermont and descendants of prominent New England families. His father was born June 9, 1810 and his mother in 1815. In 1847 the family came to Troy, Bradford county Pennsylvania, where Mr. Kingsley engaged in the tannery business as a member of the firm of Bowen & Kingsley, with which he was connected ten years. In 1865 he came to Mansfield, Tioga county, where purchased an interest in the John W. Kohn tannery. Three years later he bought out his partner, and was connected with the business up to his death, December 26, 1893. His widow is yet living, at the ripe age of eighty-one years. They were the parents of three children: Francis E., Charles S., and Flora, all residents of Mansfield. The subject of this sketch was educated in the common schools and at the Collegiate Institute, in Towanda, Pennsylvania. February 25, 1864, he enlisted in the Third Pennsylvania Artillery and was honorably discharged from the service at Philadelphia, November 9, 1865. Most of the time he was stationed at Fortress Monroe, and the last nine months of his term he was a clerk in the adjutant's office. Returning to Mansfield he engaged in the tannery business with his father, the firm being R.R. Kingsley & Son until the fall of 1868, when it was changed to C.S. Kingsley, its present title. September 12, 1872, Mr. Kingsley married Jennie Linn [sic] Bailey, a daughter of Benjamon and Clarissa (Johnson) Bailey, and has three children, viz: Harry B., Ralph R., and Kate S. In politics, Mr. Kingsley is a Republican, and has filled offices of burgess, councilman, school directory and treasurer of the school board. He is a member of General Mansfield Post, No. 48, G.A.R., and is one of the well-known, enterprising citizens of Mansfield.".

From the Wellsboro Agitator.
November 3, 1920 - "Miss Julia Strange, daughter of Mrs. Marietta Strange, was married Oct. 17, to Harry Kingsley. They were unattended and the only guests were her mother and Mrs. Joseph H. Bond. Rev. Mr. Bond performed the ceremony. They have both always resided in Mansfield. Mr. Kingsley is proprietor of the New Era Feed Mills. Mrs. Kingsley is a trained nurse. They left Oct 18 by motor car for a wedding trip and after their return will make their home in Mansfield. They have the best wishes of a host of friends."
[Prospect Cemetery records report that Harry was born in 1874. It also reports that Julia was born in 1883 which is a significant difference from what is shown in the 1930 census. However, the Prospect Cemetery records are most likely correct concerning Julia Strange's birth date (1883). The 1920 PA, Tioga, Mansfield census shows Julia, still living with her mother, at age 34. So, most likely, the 1930 census is in error.]
