August 12, 1936 - MAN IS INJURED BY QUARRY BLAST. Gas Company Engineer Hit By Mountain Rock.
Walter P. Porcher, 38, 4313 Trowbridge St., was critically injured today ehen struck on the chest by a falling rock from an explosion near scenic Drive.
Mr. Porcher, Texas Cities Gas Co. engineer, received a crushed chest and internal injuries.
Driving east over Scenic Drive, Mr. Porcher was stopped by a flagman of the Dudley Stone Works as workmen prepared to set off a noon blast, police said.
He walked about 30 feet from his truck and was knocked to the ground when the blast hurled a rock about five inches in diameter.
He was taken to Masonic Hospital in a Hartford Mortuary ambulance."

August 14, 1936 - "FUNERAL TOMORROW.
Walter P. Porcher, 4313 Trowbridge St. who was injured fatally by a flying rock from a blast at the Dudley stone quarry Wednesday, will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery tomorrow after funeral services at 4 p.m. from St. Clement's Episcopal Church. Rev. B.M.G. Williams will officiate at services. Peak-Hagedon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements."

April 22, 1937 - ASK BLAST DAMAGES.
Mrs. Kate K. Porcher filed suit for herself and minor son against the Dudley Stone Products Co. for $32,378 damages for the death of her husband, W.P. Porcher, who was injured fatally Aug. 12, 1936, when he was struck on the head by a rock from a blast near Scenic Drive.".
