"BARONESS FORMS ORCHESTRA. - Former Miss Partullo, of New York, Friend of American Girls, Improves Music School.
Baroness Carita von Horst, who was Miss Partullo, of New York, and whose interest in American girls aspiring to become prima donnas led her to open a music school at Coburg, has now organized a large orchestra for her Royal Opera Society in that city. There are forty-four pieces in i
The wealthy Baroness, whose project to take students from Berlin, where cost of living was too high, and give them an opportunity at Co9burg, finds her greatest pleasure in managing the school that has become famous in a short while. She has interested and enjoyed the patronage and support of Grand Duchess Marie of Russia, Grand Duke Cyril, the Crown Prince of Roumania, and Prince Alfons of Orleans-Bourbon.
She is a daughter of D.J. Partulle, former Consul-General at Coburg, and married Baron von Horst, known a the "hop king of the Pacific Coast." The baroness is a favorite in royal circles."
An article in the March 22, 1892 Brooklyn Daily Eagle (Brooklyn, NY.) reports that they were married March 22, 1892. Two differences here from what we learned in Descendants of Johann Gottlob Horst. This says she was Carita Lyford, rather than Carita Helena and it also seems to indicate they were married in Washington, D.C. rather than Coburg, Germany.

From the Lima Daily Times (Lima, OH) on May 16, 1903.
"OLD VIOLIN LONG SOUGHT - Located by an American in France. Once Property of Czar.
Berlin, May 16 - A Stradivarius which had been played by several Czars beginning with Alexander I, and which disappeared from the museum of the imperial orchestra at St. Petersburg in May, 1902, has been recovered by Dwight J. Partello the United States treasury agent here. Mr. Partello who is himself the possessor of twenty famous violins heard a word dropped by a person interested in violins which enabled him to trace the stolen instrument to a collector living in a town of southern France, who bought it for $2,500 from a Paris dealer. The violin just recovered is specially precious to the present Czar because of his childhood recollections in seeing his father Alexander III often play on it. Czar Nicholas, therefore was much annoyed when walking through the museum one day he saw in the violin case where the Stradivarius commonly rested an ordinary fiddle with the name of a St. Petersburg shop owner inside. The vendor recognized and pointed a member of the imperial household as the buyer of this cheap instrument. The accused denied the statement absolutely and as he was of a rank sufficient to have his word accepted, this line of inquiry was ended."
