August 22, 1979 - "Mary E. Schiek, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Norman Schiek, Cloverleaf Road, Locke, has been informed that the Golden Awards Committee at Cornell University has selected her to receive two awards for her work on the Cornel Countryman this past year.
Mary received a first place award of $75 for her article, "Whatever Happened to Mr. P B Fletcher?", which appeared in the March, 1979 issue. The second is an award of $33 as one of the editors of the May issue, which was selected as the best issue of the past year.
Mary is presently a Senior in Communication Arts at Cornell, and will complete her studies in December.".
