David Gustner is the primary family researcher for most of the related lines on this website. To say that he is the most talented and organized researcher we have ever seen does not begin to give credit to his extraordinary ability. Few families have the luxury of having such a man working almost full time to track down the past in a most unbelievable manner. Dave is magic! He can find anybody. To attest to that, one only needs to examine the bulk of this work. He has made our ancestors come alive. We feel like we know many of them because Dave has located and shared so much information about them. He has certainly become our "knowledge base" and we are thankful and grateful for his remarkable talent.

September 9, 1920 - "Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Melvo Dick, at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital, in Detroit, on September 4th, a 9 ½ pound baby girl, who has been named Grace Joan. Mrs. Dick was formerly Miss Gladys Wright, of this place. Mother and daughter are reported to be doing nicely."
Note from David Leonard Gustner, son of Grace Dick - "A curious error in the birth date here since to the best of my knowledge my mother was born August 16. That's when we always celebrated it, anyway. At least we learn the exact location of the birth - at the same hospital where Grace Wright had just had an operation a month or so earlier."
Harold and Grace bought their first house at 20051 Rosemont at the end of 1941. It is located south and west of 8 Mile and Southfield. They were still living there in 1948 when their son David was born. In about 1956 they moved to Southfield. (In 2000 as this is being written, Harold and Grace's son, David Gustner, is the primary researcher of Rose and Wright genealogy - he can find 'anything'!)
From a newspaper obituary. "GRACE J. Beloved wife of Harold L.; dear mother of Mrs. Diane J. Yates and David L. Gustner; grandmother of Michael Gustner; daughter of Mrs. Gladys Dick; sister of Mrs. Pat Wallace, Mrs. Shirley Greening and Glenn Dick. Funeral Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Haley Funeral Home, 24525 Northwestern Hwy., {Lodge Expressway Service Drive} South of 10 Mile Road. Visitation Tuesday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m".
