"Joe moved into Clio from the Birch Run area sometime between 1914 and 1920. My dad was born in Clio in 1920. His brother Tom was born in the Birch Run / Montrose Township area in 1914. My dad told me the reason for Joe's move to Clio was that he became fed up with Michigan weather, and decided to give up farming. Once in Clio, he started up a milk-trucking business, which served he and his family well, especially during the depression years.".

George and Hatti Zuellig owned the Hotel in Birch Run. It was originally built in 1907 and was first named Schmitzer's Hotel.

April 26, 1912 - "Mr. and Mrs. George Zuellig visited at Charles Zuellig's Sunday."

1926-04-01 - "George Zuellig has traded his farm formerly the Frank Cullen farm to Thomas Johnson for the Hotel building."

1926-04-29 - "George Zuellig has made a great improvement in the hotel building by the addition of a coat of paint."
