April 15, 1909 - "TRAGEDY AFTER THEIR INTERVIEW - Prominent Boston Broker Fires Bullets Through Woman's Window and Suicides.
BOSTON, April 14, - After making an unsuccessful attempt on the life of Miss Alberts, Alan M. Fay, aged 28 years, a prominent broker of this city, today shot himself through the mouth in an alley in the rear of the Hotel Navarre, Columbus avenue, early today and died while being hurried to the hospital.
Fay had spent the evening with Miss Alberts at her home, leaving some time after midnight. He then went to the alley at the rear of the house and fired four shots, three going through the young woman's window, but none reaching Miss Alberts. A policeman who heard the shooting found Fay lying in the alley, bleeding from a bullet wound in the roof of his mouth. Miss Alberts, who is 25 years old, has known Fay about four years and during that time she has repeatedly refused his proposals of marriage, it is said. Last evening after a stormy interview, Fay left Miss Alberts, saying he would never see her again.".

MICHIGAN GOLD MINES
Large Plant to be Erected to Develop the Production.

ISHPEMING, Mich., Nov. 4. - Joseph S. Fay, Jr., of Boston, general manager of the Lake Superior Iron Company; W. G. Mather, of Cleveland, of the Cleaveland Iron Mining company, and a number of other prominent iron men who are interested in the gold discoveries, have been in the city for for the past few days lookng over their property on the gold range, seven miles west of this city. It is generally believed that their visit here will result in building mills to treat the gold ore of Lake Superior and Michigan gold mines. The explorations conducted in the Michigan property show that the entire tract is seamed with quartz veins, all containing gold in greater or lesser quantities. The exploring work so far has given very satisfactory results, and the Michigan company's stockholders feel justified in building a large mill. The enlargement to the mill of the Rope's gold mine, now being built, will make that mill one of the largest of its kind in the country.
