April 16, 1976, "Widow, 65, wins big lottery.
Southfield (UPI) - A 65-year-old widow from Essexville won the top $200,000 prize in the Michigan Lottery super drawing Thursday - and immediately announced plans to buy a new car.
After hearing the good news at the televised drawing in Southfield, Mrs. Erietta Walther admitted she had only purchased two lottery tickes in her life.
Mrs. Walther, who has children, 18 grandchildren and none great grandchildren, was one of six persons winning prizes in the weekly super drawing.".

"Wright - Albert C. Wright, a resident of Birch Run for the past 21 years died of paralysis at his home Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. Mr. Wright was born in New York state November 27, 1837 and May 26, 1890 (correct date - May 27, 1896) was married to Mrs. Mary Colville, who, with four children, survives him. The children are Charles of Jackson, Irving of Flint, Mrs Daniel Wilter of Lansing and Mrs. Arthur Word of Ohio. Two brothers, Henry of Grand Rapids and George of Birch Run, one sister, Mrs. Mary Campbell and one step daughter also survive. The funeral will take place from the Butler School this afternoon at 1 o'clock sun time. Rev. Mr. Hunt of Birch Run officiating. Burial will be in Birch Run.".
