Item concerning Grover Cox in the April 4, 1946 Crawford County Avalanche:
"Grover Cox, head bookkeeper at the Dore Manufacturing Company, has bought the Biggs' home on Maple Street."
Grover's obit appeared in the January 20, 1966 Avalanche. They were living at 300 Huron Street, Grayling at the time, apparently next door to the Metcalfs. He was office manager for Bear Archery from 1945 until 1962. One additional child noted here - Mary Esther who died in infancy. No specific date of death is given for Grover but we can assume January 1966. Find A Grave reports burial in Saint Mary Cemetery, Gaylord.

Enlisted into Company D, 50th New York Engineers, on the 29th of January, 1864, he was wounded by a explosion of a shell at Fort Hell (real name was Fort Sedgwick, In Petersburg, Virginia) Virginia on the 28th of September 1864 to the chest, gun shot to the right arm at Halctez (should be Hatcher's Run) Run, in Virginia on the 28th of October 1864, right arm, plus developed diarrhea for his pension case. He was discharged on the 13th of June 1865. James went AWOL in the month of February or March of 1864, at Elmira, New York, but gave "delivered himself up" on the 21st of June 1864.
Length of service was 1 year, 4 months and 15 days. Pension was for gun shot wound in left breast and chronic diarrhea.
