From the Jamestown Weekly Alert:
August 31, 1880 - "Henry Griffin and Johnny Bell have just purchased a new threshing machine of Elder Inman. The boys are energetic workers and will no doubt make the threshing business a success. They have about three hundred acres of their own grain to thresh, which will keep them busy for a while at least."
(Note - We believe the Johnny Bell mentioned here is Janette's brother, John)
July 4, 1884 - "Farmer Henry Griffin arrived in town yesterday from Ellendale, where he has been lingering for the past four days. Henry drove in from that place to town in short space of 12 hours, fastest time on record."
January 12, 1888 - "Henry Griffin and family, who were among Stutsman county's old timers, are now located at Redfield. The Bell brothers, formerly of this city, are also located at Redfield and engaged in the livery and stock business."
(Note - The Bell brothers mentioned here would be Janette's brothers, Ronald and John)
March 22, 1900 - "Henry Griffin and family, who lived in Jamestown away back in the eighties, are living in Tacoma, where they are prospering. Back in 1882 to 1884 Henry Griffin owned and worked the farm where Isaiah Cunningham has resided for several years, three miles west of Jamestown. Mrs. Griffin is a sister of Mr.s John McGinnis and Mrs. Pettigrew of this city.".

John and CCA - inscription in a book given by John to his brother on his departure to New Zealand from Ontario in 1863.
From Elaine Bell, "In October 1878 John, his wife Margaret (nee McPherson), along with their five adult children (Margaret, Janet, Mary, Ronald and John) emigrated to North Dakota. Travelling with them was Thomas Wildridge Bell, a son of Angus - this provides a link, presumably a family link, between John and Angus.".
