"Nathaniel Foote, 1647-1703, Q. M. in King Philip's War, was son of Nathaniel Foote (2), 1620-55, of Wethersfield, whose wife was Elizabeth, dau. of Lieut. Samuel Smith, 1602-80, of Wethersfield, Deputy, 1640-73, Commissioner to the Mohawks, 1667. Nathaniel Foote (1), 1593-1644, of Wethersfield, 1633, whose wife was Elizabeth, b. 1595, dau. of John Deming of England, was Deputy, Conn., 1641-44. Margaret Bliss, 16491745, was dau. of Nathaniel and Catherine (Chapin) Bliss of Springfield, Mass., whose parents were Thomas and Margaret Bliss of Hartford, 1639, and Dea. Samuel and Cicely Chapin of Boston, 1641. Thomas Bliss was son of John Bliss, d. 1617, of Preston, Perva, near Northampton, Eng.".
