August 11, 1968 - "In most weddings it is appropriate to describe the gown worn by the bride merely assuming the bride-groom is in appropriate attire.
However, in the wedding of Karen Jean Arms of Granada Hills, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. Arms, to Pvt. Michael Dale Puddicombe USA of Sepulveda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Puddicombe, the situation is reversed.
Pvt. Puddicombe, a member of the Army Band stationed at Fort Mac Arthur, was honored by being allowed to wear for the first time in public the new issue uniform for Army Band members.
It featured a midnight blue jacket complemented by a swag of gold braid and shoulder boards of gold. Completing the uniform was a belt of slate blue matching the trousers.
For her wedding held in the Congregational Church of Northridge, the bride chose a peau de sole gown featuring a cutaway embroidered lace coat falling into a long train.
Assisting the Rev. Kenneth O. Easton, pastor, was the bride's paternal grandfather, Dr. William J. Arms, who recently retired from the ministry after 55 years of service.
The couple is at home in San Pedro following a honeymoon trip to the High Sierra.".
