July 14, 1916 - "Miss Thelma Carter entertained a company of 19 little girls, one day this week, in honor of her 10th birthday. Ice cream and cake were served, a large birthday cake with 10 pink candles adorning the center of the table. The little hostess was the receipient of a number of pretty remembrances."
November 8, 1918 - "Mrs. Thos. Carter and daughter, Thelma, spent Tuesday with Mrs. Jane Blight, of Montrose."
January 23, 1919 -"Thelma Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Carter, was taken ill while in school, last week, and on a physician being called to attend her it was found she was suffering from scarlet fever. We have been informed that the young lady is also threatened with diphtheria. "
January 30, 1919 - "Miss Thelma Carter, who has been ill with the scarlet fever, is now able to sit up, but cannot leave her room for two weeks yet. Being mindful of the fact that she would naturally be lonesome, during this period, her schoolmates gave her a post card shower, the M.P. Sunday school gave her a beautiful bouquet, and the Misses Ruth and Dorothy Scholl, a lovely bouquet of carnations. This, of course, was very gratifying to Miss Thelma, but she is very hopeful that the two weeks will pass quickly so that she can get out and see her friends again."
