1894-01-04 - "Mr. and Mrs. Ira Barnum spent the holidays visiting relatives at Clio."

1894-01-05 - "Mr. and Mrs. Ira P. Barnum have gone on a visit to Mrs. B's parents at Clio."

1894-01-19 - "Mr. and Mrs. Ira P. Barnum have returned from Clio where they have been on a visit for the past two weeks.

1894-03-09 - "At the citizen's caucus Tuesday evening the following village officers were nominated for the current year: . . . street commissioner, Ira P. Barnum . . constable, Richard H. Rose."

1897-10-08 - "Mrs. Al. White of Southfield was a guest of Ira P. Barnum and family this week."

From an August 12, 1898 newspaper report. "Ira P. Barnum and wife have returned home after a sojurn of several weeks with Mrs. Barnum's parents in Clio. We are sorry that Mr. Barnum's health is not improved." Notes from Ira's obituary. "After about three years of intense suffering, Ira P. Barnum is at rest. About one o'clock last Sunday morning, November 13, one of Royal Oak's most esteemed citizens was called to the great beyond. Ira P. Barnum, the patient suffering from consumption, at last succumbed to the dread disease. Mr Barnum had also been totally blind for over a year. However he was an example of patient endurance, always greeting friends and acquaintences with a smile of welcome. When about 17 years of age, Mr. Barnum enlisted in the Rebellion, serving three years in the regular army and receiving two wounds in his service to his country. Mr. Barnum had spent a greater portion of his life in the vicinity of Royal Oak, and Had won a large circle of friends. " From the Oakland County Post, Friday, June 22, 1894. "Ira P. Barnum and his wife have gone on a visit to Mrs. B's parents at Clio." In another newspaper note of interest, "Mrs. John Pridgeon, of Detroit, and Miss Rosalia Rose of Clio, were in Royal Oak the first of the week, being called here by the death of Mr. Barnum."
