September 20, 1923 - "Mrs. Fream Carter was taken to Ann Arbor, the past week, for treatment of the eyes. She has cataracts growing over both eyes."
September 27, 1923 - "Fream Carter returned from Detroit, Monday. He says his wife, who is in the hospital, had an operation on one of her eyes and the doctors say it was successful."
November 8, 1923 - "Fream Carter spent the week with his father, Thomas Carter. He reports his wife much improved. She had an operation for the removal of cataracts from the eyes. She is reported as doing nicely and will be able to see from both eyes.".
