June 26, 1954 - "The first scrap book entry ever made by the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Junior Chamber of Commerce in a national Jaycee contest won the local organization first place among Jaycee groups in cities of the 25,000 to 100,000 population category. The winning entry was compiled by Arden Pridgeon, chairman of the local group's awards and scrap book projects."

April 1955 - "Arden Pridgeon Named President of Jaycees. Arden Pridgeon, sales manager for the Benton Harbor Malleable Industries, was elected president of the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Junior Chamber of Commerce at the organization's annual business meeting in St. Joseph last evening."

April 10, 1964 - "Pridgeon spent three years in the army, rising to staff sergeant and seeing action under McArthur on Leyte and Okinawa as a member of the 96th Infantry Division. "

June 22, 1959 - "Larry Shearer, state Jaycee vice president, was given the Key-Man award Saturday night when the St. Joseph-Benton harbor Junior Chamber of Commerce, meeting at the Bridgman country club, installed officers. Mr. and Mrs. Arden Pridgeon and Mr. and Mrs. neil Berndt had charge of entertainment, which consisted of games and dancing."

1964-02-17 - "National Engineers' Week sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers, in cooperation with many other engineering and industrial groups, will be observed all this week. Organized in 1954, the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers will also recognize its 10th anniversary. Participating in the observance will be past president of the Chapter, Arden D. Pridgeon, P.E., (1960-61)."

1964-04-10 - "It was Oct. 20, 1944, and American forces were invading the island of Leyte in the Philippines. A young soldier, rifle at port arms, paused a brief instant on the battle-torn beach. He picked up a piece of paper, glanced at it, stuffed it in his pocket and hurried on. One of thousands dropped on the islands from a plane, the paper was a proclamation to the people of the Philippines. It came from General Headquarters, Southwest Pacific Area, office of the Commander-In-Chief. "I have returned," the proclamation read. "By the grace of Almighty God our forces stand again on Philippine soil - soil consecrated in the blood of our two peoples." The 20-year-old infantryman was Arden Pridgeon. Now 40, he lives with his wife and four children at 1313 Grant st., St. Joseph. General Douglas MacArthur's recent death recalled the day on Leyte beach and caused Pridgeon to dig through the mementos owned by every man who has been to war."

1964-07-31 - "Top Swine, Dairy Units On Display For State Tour - Southwestern Michigan farmers will have a chance to visit a top-notch swine farm and an excellent dairy farm in Branch county during the annual state farm management tour next Wednesday. The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. with swine operations on the Dean Pridgeon farm near Montgomery, includes a luncheon at the Quincey high school, and ends in the afternoon with a visit to the Leo Sanderson dairy farm near Quincy. The Pridgeon farm, on Phillip road about six miles west of Montgomery, produces 2,000 pigs yearly. Pridgeon formerly handled 59 dairy cows, but switched to pigs because cows required too much hired labor."

1965-05-12 - "Some 36 members of the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers went on a field trip to the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co., Gary, Ind., recently. Society members who participated in the tour were: Benton Harbor Malleable: Arden Pridgeon."

Samuel Melvin and Fannie lived on the west side (Mecosta Co.) of the Isabella / Mecosta County Line - Samuel and Kitty lived across the road - a little to the south - in Isabella Co. Hence, the closeness of the two families. After Fannie died, Samuel M. and children moved into the home of his parents in Isabella Co.

Samuel Pridgeon Sr., wife Catherine, Mrs Fannie (Davis) Pridgeon, her son Iden Pridgeon and Audre Pridgeon, dau of Stan & Tessie Pridgeon are all buried in lot 3, Forest Hill Cem. Only Sam Sr. and Catherine have headstones.
