Carl had his leg amputated and was in a lot of pain the last few years of his life.

"Elizabeth was his (Carl Schiefen) second wife. She worked for him for many years, and after the death of his wife they would car pool, and eat dinner together. She married him later in life. I don't have the marriage date. She is buried next to her parents.".
