From an Ancestry.com Family Tree.
Morris Livers disappeared in the summer of 1925, possibly within the month of June. He was never heard from again. His five year old son, Johnny, was with him at the garage where Morris worked as a mechanic remembers that day.
"I can remember walking uptown, a distance of only 2 or 3 blocks, just to be near him while he worked. He owned and operated a garage, a place which fascinates small boys. As I neared the garage I could see that he had the car out and that there were two strangers with him wearing dark suits and hats. I could see that they were ready to leave, my dad with them, and I recall begging to go along. Dad told me that he couldn't take me and handed me a quarter so that I could go to the meat market and buy some hamburger and take it home for supper. As I stood there in the street they started the car and left town. All of this is a vivid today as the day it happened. It remains as much a mystery today as it was then. People who knew him said that he would not have left of his own free will, that he was forced to leave possibly by threat of bodily harm to his family. The eternal burning question is, why? I have always had the feeling that he was driven to some remote area and they took his life. But all is pure conjecture and there isn't anyone alive today who can tell us the truth.".
