1883-05-03 -"Mr. J. C. Evans is putting up a neat house on his place, just north of the village."

05-25-1884 - "Mr. John Evans is home from Pennsylvania, and engaged in putting in spring crops on his farm."

1885-10-29 - "J. Evans sold out his dairy business to George Forbes, who run the same for a week, and then sold to another party. There must be "millions in it," to enable those who engage in the business to retire so soon."

1886-07-15 - "Mr. Jno. Evans is putting up a fine barn on his farm close to town."

1887-05-12 - "J. C. Evans has moved from his winter residence on to his homestead for the summer, where it is cooler."

1887-07-14 - "J. C. Evans is now chief engineer at the round-house pump - being succeeded by John Pearson."

1888-07-26 - "The families of Blakeslee, Woodworth, Rose and Evans went to Portage Lake last Tuesday for a week's outing."

1888-05-31 - "John C. Evans had two cattle killed by an engine north of town, last week."

1888-09-20 - "J. C. Evans, received a dispatch Monday from Binghampton, N.Y. stating that his father was dangerously ill."

1888-12-13 - "John C. Evans struts around town like a great turkey-gobbler, just because a new girl baby came to his house to stay, the 9th. No matter how his customers suffer there will be no chalk or water added the milk fed that child."

1889-08-08 - "The families of Dr. Woodworth, A. J. Rose and J. C. Evans have been camping out at Portage Lake for the past week."

1889-10-03 - "For Sale - I have for sale 2 milch cows and one horse which I will sell at reasonable terms - Mrs. J. C. Evans."

1890-03-20 - "Jno. C. Evans arrived from Ohio, last Thursday, laid up for the repair of a dislocated knee. He was caught in the machinery over a gas well in some manner and thrown about twenty feet into the air, almost miraculously escaping with his life. "

1890-05-01 - "John C. Evans has returned from Ohio, his injured knee being attacked with rheumatism, so he was unable to continue his work.".
