"It was learned that Elmeron L. Grosjean was with the first wave of the 5th to land on Iwo Jima. He writes home he is safe, dirty and has lost weight but is lucky to have only lost that. His brother, Robert Grosjean, a barber on the Tuscana somewhere in the Pacific, is expected to leave for a long voyage, the longest trip he has ever taken.".

May 15, 1975 - "Hallie GrosJean will be ninety today, May 15, 1975. She celebrated Mother's Day at the Penn Wells Hotel where she was treated to dinner by her family.
Those present were her son Rob and wife; granddaughter Sharon Sears, grandson Gerry GrosJean, great-grandchildren Kim and Kerin. Also present was Trudy Sarey, a friend of the family.
Mrs. GrosJean received lovely gifts, a birthday cake and many best wishes from her friends."

November 2, 1977 - "Hallie Bailey Grosjean, age 92, of RD6, Wellsboro, died October 30, 1977 in Wellsboro.
Mrs. Grosjean was born May 15, 1885 in Wellsboro, the daughter of Elmiran and Emma Jane Balfour Bailey. She was a tailor and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro.
She is survived by two sons, Elmiran L. Grosjean of Wellsboro; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. McCutchan officiating. Burial in the Wellsboro Cemetery.".

"Golden Weddings of Two Couples are Celebrated.

Wellsboro -- A double golden wedding anniversary was celebrated in the Legion Building at Wellsboro Sunday when 175 relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Elmeron Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey, who live near Wellsboro gathered to offer their felicitations.
The affair was planned by Mrs. Leo Bailey and Mrs. Lewis Grosjean, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Elmeron Bailey, and Mrs. Lee Wilson and miss Nettie Bailey, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey and was a surprise to the guests of honor.
The two aged couples were deluged with letters and cards and were presented with a purse of gold, many gifts and a profusion of flowers."

February 16, 1950 - "Elmeron Bailey, who resides with his daughter, Mrs. Helen Bailey on R D 4 celebrated his 87th birthday last Sunday when the following were present to enjoy Sunday dinner with him. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grosjean and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grosjean and two children. Mr. Bailey is in good health and is busily engaged during the winter months in cutting and sewing carpet rags which have been woven into beautiful rugs and runners."

August 18, 1952 - "WELLSBORO - Elmeron H. Bailey, 89, of Wellsboro, died Sunday, August 17, 1952.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Hallie) Grosjean and Mrs. Helen Bailey. Wellsboro.; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lena Sparling, Mansfield.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home 139 Main Street. The Rev. C.W. Sheriff will officiate. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery.".

November 13, 1907 - " Enjoyable Birthday Party

Mr. and Mrs. Elmiron Bailey and daughter, Helen, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grosjean, attended a pleasant surprise party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Bailey in Covington, on Monday, given in honor of Mr. Bailey's 82nd birthday. Among the thirty-five relatives and friends who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ford and family, Miss Mary Bailey and Lloyd and Clyde Simerson, Mr. and Mrs. Sampson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox, Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson, Stephan Sparling and family.
A bountiful dinner was served. Mr. Bailey is one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Covington. He enjoyed the day as well as did his 21 grandchildren and the happy day will be long remembered by his many friends and relatives. Mr. Bailey was presented with a gold watch."

May 12, 1909 - "DOUBLE FUNERAL SUNDAY.
Father and daughter Died of Pneumonia - Burial Sunday.
Mr. William A. Bailey, aged 83, died at this home on Elk Run, about two miles below Cherryflats, at 10 o'clock last Friday morning, of pneumonia, after a week's illness. He caught cold during the recent severe storm and a few days afterward pneumonia developed.
Mr. Bailey was a son of Sylvester Bailey, deceased, one of the pioneers of Rutland township and he was born in Rutland on November 11, 1825.
He was twice married, his first wife being Sarah Bailey, a daughter of the late Clark W. Bailey She died about 52 years ago. To them was born one daughter, Mary, who died of pneumonia at her father's home at 12:30 o'clock on Saturday morning last, May 8, after a very short illness, aged 58 years. She was born in Charleston on December 8, 1850. She was a member of the Cherryflats Methodist church and was a woman of many beautiful traits of character.
Mr. Bailey's second wife who was Miss Lydia Hotchkiss, is dangerously ill with pneumonia. Of their four children, three are surviving - E.H. Bailey, of Delmar; Mrs. Stephen Sparling, of Richmond, and Mrs. D.H. Ford, of Covington. Their other daughter, Laura, wife of Mr. Lafayette Simmerson of Covington, died about two years ago.
Two sisters and one brother also survive Mr. Bailey - Mrs. Lucy Aylesworth, wife of William Aylesworth, of Blossburg, Mrs Abigail Burnside, of Covington, and Mrs. Constant Bailey, of Wellsboro.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Cherryflats M E church and of Aurora Grange, No. 874, of Cherryflats. He was one of the substantial and respected citizens of the vicinity in which he resided for so many years and his death is mourned by a host of friends. He was a veteran of the Civil war.
The funeral was held on Sunday at 2 p.m., and services were largely attended. Rev, J.E. Tallant officiating; burial on the Cherryflats cemetery.".

July 1, 1943 - "Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grosjean gave a dinner last Wednesday at their home on R.D. 6, in honor of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmeron Bailey, of Delmar, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 24. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey were married on June 24, 1883, by the Rev. Mr. Moss.
Mr. Bailey is 81 and Mrs. Bailey is 80. Both are enjoying good health, and are doing all their own work at their farm home on R. D. 7 where they have resided practically all their married life. While Mr. Bailey is working his own garden, while Mrs. Bailey is busy about her housework, doing all her own baking and laundry.
Mrs. Bailey's maiden name was Emma Balfour. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey have two daughters, Hallie, wife of Louis Grosjean and Helen, wife of Leo Bailey, two grandsons, Elmeron Grosjean, of Corning and Robert Grosjean, of Wellsboro, also three great-grandchildren, Duane L. and Robert D. Grosjean, of Corning and Sharon E. Grosjean, of Wellsboro."

February 26, 1947 - "Mrs. Emma Jane Balfour Bailey, aged 83 years, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo Bailey, Wellsboro, R. D. 4.
She was born Feb. 26, 1863, in Wellsboro, daughter of Alec and Mary Ann English Balfour.
Mr. and Mrs. Bailey celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary June 24, 1946.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Louis Grosjean, of Wellsboro; two grandchildren, Elmeron Grosjean, of Corning, and Robert Grosjean, of Wellsboro, five great grandchildren, Duane, Robert, Sheron, Gerald and Anne Marie Grosjean.
The funeral was held yesterday morning at the Johnson & Tussey Funeral Home, Rev. C. W. Sheriff, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating; burial in the Wellsboro Cemetery.".
