"POTTER, Robert W. - of National City, Michigan, formerly of Flint, age 61, died Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 5, 1998 at Harmony Baptist Church, 5106 East Briston Road in Burton, Pastor Steve Reid officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #3087 Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church. Visitation 1-9PM Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hille Road and 10AM until the time of the service at the church. A masonic memorial service will be held at 6:30PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Potter was born in Genesee, Michigan on September 17, 1937. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of Grand Blanc Lodge No. 571 F&A.M. He was employed with General Motors retiring, after 30 years of service. Surviving are his children, Darrell and wife Lori Potter, Lisa Swan, Laurie and husband Phil Smith; 15 grandchildren; mother, Erma Potter, sisters, Helen Potter, Frances and husband Morris Potter, Jane and husband Richard Bradley, Betty and husband Bill Poland and Sandra Potter; brother, Jim and wife Carole Potter; sister in law, Donna Potter; many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Richard; brother Albert, and infant son Gerald.".

"POTTER, Richard O. - 4461 East Stanley Road, Genesee, age 72, died Tuesday, April 17, 1973 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Mt. Vernon Chapel, Brown Funeral Home, Rev. T.B. Smith officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Potter will lie in state at the Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Road. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday under the auspices of Welfare Lodge No. 517, F&AM. Visitation 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mr. Potter was born in Clarksville, Tennessee, August 10, 1900, and had been a resident of Flint and vicinity for the last 50 years. He was a member of Bray Road Baptist Church, life member of Welfare Lodge No. 517, F&AM, and he had been employed by Chevrolet Motor Division for 37 years, retiring in 1962. Surviving are: Wife, Erma, 5 daughters, Mrs. Lee (Helen) Palmer and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Poland, both of Flint, Mrs. Morris (Frances) Palmer and Mrs. Richard (Jane) Bradley, both of Genesee, and Miss Sandra Potter at home; 3 sons, Albert and Jimmy, both of Genesee, and Robert of Goodrich. 24 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mrs. Callie Potter, Miss Edna Potter, and Mrs. Ethel Eleazer, all of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Lindell of Hampton Rhoades, Virgina; 4 brothers, Horace and Clifton, both of Clarksville, Tennessee, Edward of Flint and Calvin of North Branch.".

"POTTER, Erma Beatrice (Moore) - Age 94, a long-time Genesee resident, formerly of Flint, passed away at home early Friday morning. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2000 at Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Road with Pastor Steve Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. An Order of the Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday. She was the oldest living past Worthy Matron and lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Genesee Chapter #457. Her husband, Richard Potter; sons, Albert and Robert Potter preceded Erma in death. She is survived by her children, Helen Palmer and Husband Morris of Genesee, Betty Poland and husband Bill of Flint, Jane Bradley and husband Richard of Genesee, Jim Potter and wife Carole of Flint, Sandra Potter of Flint; daughter-in-law, Donna Potter of Mt. Morris; and many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.".

Enlisted into Company D, 50th New York Engineers, on the 29th of January, 1864, he was wounded by a explosion of a shell at Fort Hell (real name was Fort Sedgwick, In Petersburg, Virginia) Virginia on the 28th of September 1864 to the chest, gun shot to the right arm at Halctez (should be Hatcher's Run) Run, in Virginia on the 28th of October 1864, right arm, plus developed diarrhea for his pension case. He was discharged on the 13th of June 1865. James went AWOL in the month of February or March of 1864, at Elmira, New York, but gave "delivered himself up" on the 21st of June 1864.

Length of service was 1 year, 4 months and 15 days. Pension was for gun shot wound in left breast and chronic diarrhea.
