From the Wellsboro Agitator.

January 1, 1941 - "JOHNSON HOME DAMAGED BY FIRE. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Johnson at Woodlland avenue and Bryden street was practically ruined by fire at 9:30 Wednesday night, the damage being estimated at over $3,000.00.
The fire, which probably started from an overheated furnace, was not discovered until far advanced, and very little of the contents would be saved. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were calling on friends out of town at the time of the fire.
The fire was discovered by Bobby Goodwin, aged 7 years, a neighbor of the Johnsons."

May 17, 1944 - "Clyde H. Johnson was found dead in a chair on the porch of his home on Bryden street late Tuesday afternoon. He had spent several hours shingling his porch roof. While he had been in poor health for a number of years after sustaining a knee injury while employed in garage work, he was apparently in his usual health and enjoyed a fishing trip with his sister, Mrs. Mary Henry, the day before his death.
He was born May 30, 1893, son of Jesse and Martha Johnson, of R.D. 3, and spent practically all his life in Wellsboro. He was a world war veteran, leaving Wellsboro with the first contingent, and was a member of the American Legion, and was a Jury Commissioner at the time of his death.
Surviving are his widow, the former Lydia Ford, whom he parried on Dec. 19, 1914, and one daughter, Mrs. Oliver Vanderhoof, of Wellsboro; one brother, Frank, of Pittsburgh; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson Henry, of Wellsboro.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Rev. C.W. Sheriff, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating; burial in the Wellsboro cemetery." (Possible error as he and his wife are both listed in the Cherry Flats Methodist Cemetery records.).
