July 27, 1927 - "Doyle English was awakened the other night by the barking of a dog to find his barn on the farm owned by George Smith near Cherryflats in flames. The barn, silo an milk house were destroyed. The contents which burned included a tractor owned by Guy Ford, a LsFrance truck, several engines, hay press, milking machine, farm tools, hay, etc. Mr. English was quite badly burned on the back in trying to save the tractor. The loss is only partially covered by insurance.".

December, 1988 - "FORD - MOLLIE E. ENGLISH, age 95, of RD#1, Covington, PA passed away Wednesday, November 30, 1988. Born July 16, 1893 in Tioga County. Daughter of Daniel H. & Josephine Bailey Ford. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Doyle R. English in 1974. She was a member of the Cherry Flats Baptist Church for over 70 years and a member of the Aurora Grange. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Sanford Livermore of RD#1, Covington, PA; sons and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Blanche English of RD#1, Covington, PA, Paul and Alma English, Mansfield, PA; sister, Mrs. Eva Mecks of Tyrone, PA; brother, Roy Ford of Wellsboro, PA; 8 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Friday 2 p.m. at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Wellsboro, PA with Rev. John McCullough her pastor officiating. Burial in Elk Run Cemetery, Covington Township. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 1-2 p.m.".

April 25, 1906 - "Daniel Ford, of Cherry Flats was severely injured as the result of a runaway at the Erie station in Mansfield on Monday forenoon of last week. His team became frightened at the cars and threw him from the wagon. He retained his grasp on the reins and was dragged across the railroad tracks and to one of the Crossley greenhouses, where the team came in contact with a telephone pole and stopped. Mr. Ford was taken to the Crossley residence, where it was discovered that one of his knees was badly wrenched and that his body was considerable contused. Mr. Ford's two little sons, who were with him in wagon, very fortunately escaped injury."

December 28, 1940 - "Daniel H. Ford, aged 87 years, of Charleston, a former County Commissioner, died Dec. 25 at his home in Cherryflats. He was born Nov. 16, 1862 at Mainesburg, son of Jerome and Mary Gardener Ford.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, Guy Ford, of Mansfield, R.D. 1, and Roy M. Ford, of Wellsboro, four daughters, Mrs. Leon Simerson, of Covington, R.D.; Mrs Lydia Johnson, of Wellsboro, Mrs. Maynard Meckes, of Tyrone, PA., one brother, Clark G. Ford, of Watertown, Wid., one sister, Mrs Ethelyn Phelps, of Liberty, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great,great-grandchild.
The funeral was held yesterday at the Cherryflats Baptist church, Rev. R.D. Sensabaugh officiating, burial in the Cherryflats cemetery.".

March 2, 1938 - "Cherryflats Dinner for Children's Aid Was Very Successful.
The Children's Aid Society of Tioga county wishes to give a rousing cheer of thanks to the Ladies Aid Society of Cherryflats. Mrs. Daniel H. Ford, president of the organization, last week presented to the Wellsboro drive chairman, C.E. Bennett, $46.50, proceeds of the dinner which was served in her home February 18."

March 20, 1946 - "Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Ford were given a surprise party Wednesday evening on their 57th wedding anniversary. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Passmore, daughter, Roberta, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wheeer, daughter, Helen Marie, son, Gairy, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ford, Richard, Mrs. Lydia Johnson, Mrs. Mollie English, daughter, Margaret, of Wellsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Simerson and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard English and son Douglas."

September 27, 1950 - "Mrs. Josephine E. Ford, aged 82 years, a life long resident of Cherryflats, Tioga county, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leon Summerson, of Cherryflats. She was the widow of Daniel Ford, former Tioga County Commissioner.
Her survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Summerson, Mrs. Doyle English, of Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. Lydia Johnson, of Wellsboro; Mrs. Maynard Mekes, of Tyrone; a so, Roy M. Ford, of Wellsboro; sister, Mrs. Lena Sparling, of Mansfield; a brother, Elmiron Bailey, of Wellsboro; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday in the Cherryflats Baptist church, the Rev. R.D. Sensabaugh officiating; burial in the Cherryflats cemetery.".

November 13, 1907 - " Enjoyable Birthday Party

Mr. and Mrs. Elmiron Bailey and daughter, Helen, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grosjean, attended a pleasant surprise party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Bailey in Covington, on Monday, given in honor of Mr. Bailey's 82nd birthday. Among the thirty-five relatives and friends who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ford and family, Miss Mary Bailey and Lloyd and Clyde Simerson, Mr. and Mrs. Sampson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox, Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson, Stephan Sparling and family.
A bountiful dinner was served. Mr. Bailey is one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Covington. He enjoyed the day as well as did his 21 grandchildren and the happy day will be long remembered by his many friends and relatives. Mr. Bailey was presented with a gold watch."

May 12, 1909 - "DOUBLE FUNERAL SUNDAY.
Father and daughter Died of Pneumonia - Burial Sunday.
Mr. William A. Bailey, aged 83, died at this home on Elk Run, about two miles below Cherryflats, at 10 o'clock last Friday morning, of pneumonia, after a week's illness. He caught cold during the recent severe storm and a few days afterward pneumonia developed.
Mr. Bailey was a son of Sylvester Bailey, deceased, one of the pioneers of Rutland township and he was born in Rutland on November 11, 1825.
He was twice married, his first wife being Sarah Bailey, a daughter of the late Clark W. Bailey She died about 52 years ago. To them was born one daughter, Mary, who died of pneumonia at her father's home at 12:30 o'clock on Saturday morning last, May 8, after a very short illness, aged 58 years. She was born in Charleston on December 8, 1850. She was a member of the Cherryflats Methodist church and was a woman of many beautiful traits of character.
Mr. Bailey's second wife who was Miss Lydia Hotchkiss, is dangerously ill with pneumonia. Of their four children, three are surviving - E.H. Bailey, of Delmar; Mrs. Stephen Sparling, of Richmond, and Mrs. D.H. Ford, of Covington. Their other daughter, Laura, wife of Mr. Lafayette Simmerson of Covington, died about two years ago.
Two sisters and one brother also survive Mr. Bailey - Mrs. Lucy Aylesworth, wife of William Aylesworth, of Blossburg, Mrs Abigail Burnside, of Covington, and Mrs. Constant Bailey, of Wellsboro.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Cherryflats M E church and of Aurora Grange, No. 874, of Cherryflats. He was one of the substantial and respected citizens of the vicinity in which he resided for so many years and his death is mourned by a host of friends. He was a veteran of the Civil war.
The funeral was held on Sunday at 2 p.m., and services were largely attended. Rev, J.E. Tallant officiating; burial on the Cherryflats cemetery.".
