September 12, 1945 - "Francis Sparling, aged 24 years, of Mansfield, R.D., who was fatally injured Aug. 30 when a flying piece of metal from a hay baler pierced his side, was taken to the Blossburg hospital by his father-in-law, Alfred Pequignot, who was with him at the time of the accident. Sparling died soon after he was admitted to the hospital.
Mr. Sparling had just started the hay baler when a large piece of metal broke loose and struck him in the side. He was thrown about eight feet.
He is survived by his widow, the former Althea Pequignot; two sons, Alfred, 17 months, and Howard 4 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Sparling, and sisters and brothers, Mrs. Clarence Harvey of Canoe Camp; Mrs. Donald Sillaman, of California; Miss Ella Mae Sparling, of Mansfield, and Donald Sparling, of Blossburg.".

September, 20, 1944 - "Stephen A. Sparling, aged 84 years, of Mansfield, died Friday, Sept 15, at his home. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Lena Bailey Sparling; three sons, Ward, Leonard, Hugh, all of Mansfield, R.D.; and two daughters, Mrs. Lidah Hubbard, and Mrs Cass Lamphier, of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at the home; burial in the Cherryflats cemetery.".

April 7, 1943 - "Miss Althea J. Pequignot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Pequignot, of Liberty, and Francis L. Sparling, of Mansfield, were married at the Baptist church at Towson, Md., by Rev. Thomas Ellis, March 26.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sillaman of Westfield, were their only attendants. Mrs. Sillaman is a sister of the bridegroom.
The bride was attired in a Navy blue dress with white accessories and wore a white gardenia corsage. Mrs. Sillaman was dressed similarly. They will reside in Mansfield.".
