November 18, 1898 - "Hyrum Higgins, the eight year-old son of George and Deseret Higgins, fell from a wagon last Saturday, breaking his left leg above the knee. The unfortunate boy was riding down Glover lane in a wagon with little James Oviatt, the team going on a trot, when the seat fell off behind and the lad went out with it; one of the rear wheels passing over the limb with the above mentioned results. Dr. Wilcox who had just returned from Bear River Flat, was called in and set the broken bones. The patient is now getting along nicely.".

November 8, 1907 - "Mrs. George Higgins, who had been in Utah since last July and who during her absence underwent a serious surgical operation, in one of the Salt Lake Hospitals, has returned to her home in Cowley, Much improved in health."
July 4, 1911 - "Mrs George Higgins, a former resident of this place, died at her home in Cowley, Wyoming, on Thursday of last week, July 6th, after a serious illness of about three years. She was taken worse while visiting with her daughter at Teasdale, Utah, when she hastened home fearing that the end was nigh. A son, who is attending school at Provo, accompanied her home. Deceased was a daughter of William and Anna Rose Wright (Rice) and was born here forty-nine years ago. She was married here in Farmington to George Higgins who together with three sons and a daughter survive her. They buried a little boy when he was about six months old. She also leaves an aged father, two brothers and three sisters. Three of her children are married. Funeral services were held at Cowley where she was buried beside her little son. The family left here about eleven years ago to move to Big Horn.".

July 11, 1913 - "William Rice, a pioneer of 1847, being a member of the first company that crossed the plains, and a resident of Farmington for considerably more than half a century, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dahl Duncan, in Farmington, Monday. He was perfectly helpless for two months before the end came.
He had been a widower for a great many years, but is survived by a large number of children who reside in different parts of this western country.
Funeral services were held in the Farmington meeting house yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock.".
