July 31, 1941 - "Henry Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Bowers, Wellsboro, and Miss Freda Perry Wellsboro, were injured in automobile accident on Route 6 east of Wellsboro, Sunday at 9:30 p.m.
The car careened off the highway, dropped into the yard of Walter Lent, hit a tree and was demolished.
Bowers was treated by Dr. William Bache for two fractured ribs. Miss Perry received lacerations of the head and legs."

December 5, 1945 - "BOWERS ON WAY HOME - Pearl Harbor - Henry Bowers S 1/c, USNR, husband of Mrs. Freda J. Bowers, of 90 West avenue, Wellsboro, is on his way home. Bowers is one of over 1,250 high-point Navy veterans whom the "Magic Carpet" is bringing back to the State aboard the U.S.S. Faerisle, one of the more than 250 carriers, battleships, cruisers and attack transports in the Navy's famed "Magic Carpet" fleet, which left Okinawa Nov. 15 and is scheduled to arrive in San Francisco about Dec. 1.".

October 10, 1047 - "BIRTHDAY PARTY - A weiner roast was held on the lawn, Sept. 4, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Bowers in honor of their daughter, Ann.
Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bowers and children Nina Mae and Ronald.".
