October 20, 1966 - "Seaman Recruit Jerry D. Comfort. 19 USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Comfort of Route 1, Mansfield, has been graduated from nine weeks of Navy basic training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
In the first weeks of his naval service he studied military subjects and lived and worked under conditions similar to those he will encounter on his first ship or at his first shore station.
In making the transition from civilian life to Naval service, he received instruction under veteran petty officers. He studied seamanship, as well as survival techniques, military drill and other basic subjects."
November 24, 1966 - "Fireman Apprentice Jerry D. Comfort, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Comfort of Route 1, Mansfield, is a crewmember aboard the attack aircraft USS Lexington, homeported at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.
The Lexington conducts all her operations in the Gulf of Mexico. There she provides carrier for basic and advanced Navy and Marine Corps student pilots as well as service for carrier qualifications of Atlantic Fleet Squadrons.
The Navy's chief weapon for maintaining "control of the sea" is fast moving, far ranging, hard hitting carrier striking force and the top ship in the force is the attack aircraft carrier.".

May 2, 1957 - "William Henry Comfort 82 of Mansfield RD 3, Pa, died April 24, 1957. He was a member of Knoxville Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughters, Mrs. Rose Cowles of Wellsboro, Pa., Mrs. Nellie Stradley of Himrod N.Y., sons Truman Comfort of Norfolk, Va, Alfred of Lawrenceville Pa., Raymond of Mansfield, 18 grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren .
The funeral was Saturday with Rev. Oren E. Crippen officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Tipga.".

"The many friends of Mrs. Pearl (Bartlett) Comfort were saddened when it became known that she had died at her home in Charleston last Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Two years ago last June Mrs. Comfort suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she gradually declined until a few days before her death, when she suffered another stroke, which caused her death. Had Mrs. Comfort lived until July 23 she would have been 43 years old. In February 1898, she was married to William H. Comfort and to this union seven children were born, five of whom survive. They are Truman D. Comfort of Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Cecil Perry, of Charleston, and Nellie, Alfred and Raymond at home; besides her husband and children she also leaves to mourn, her father, David Bartlett, of Tioga; one sister. Mrs. Emma Kennedy of Mansfield; two brothers, Lawrence Bartlett of Holiday and Harley Bartlett of Mill Creek, and four grandchildren. Mrs Comfort was a kind wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor. The funeral was held from the M.E. church in Tioga Sunday at one o'clock, the Rev. F.A. Phelps, of the Free Methodist church in Corning, officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery at Tioga. The bearers were old neighbors and schoolmates of Mrs. Comfort.

"Painter Run is the name of a postoffice in the southeast corner of the township. The office was established in 1872. David Bartlett was the first postmaster.".

September 22, 1938 - "Raymond Comfort, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Comfort, of Mansfield, R.D. 1, and Miss Ruth Kenyon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kenyon, of Crooked Creek, R.D, were married at the home of the bride's parents. They were given a variety shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Comfort."

"Ruth A. Comfort, 78, a resident of Pinnacle Towers for two years, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at the home of her daughter, Judy Zuchowski of Princeton Street. Her husband of 56 years, Raymond Comfort, died in 1994. Born Aug. 30, 1921, in Cortland, N.Y., she was a daughter of Sarah and John Kenyon. Surviving, besides her daughter, are a son, Jerry, of Lakeland, Fla.; another daughter Carol Meskunas of New York; two brothers, Robert Kenyon of Troy and Jack Kenyo0n of Mansfield; a sister, Laura Beals of Blossburg; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tussey-Mosher's, 139 Main St., with he Rev. James Traux officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Charleston Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.".
