February 11, 2005 - "Mildred P. (Milly) Armstrong, age 84, dies on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, in White Bear, Minn, following a long battle with colon cancer.
She was born March 30, 1920 in LaPorte City, Iowa. She attended East Waterloo High School in Waterloo, Iowa. She married William H. Armstrong on April 28, 1942.
Milly was a long-time resident of Waterloo, Iowa, and worked at Allen Memorial Hospital as an occupational therapist, touching many lives. After retirement, she and Bill moved to Rush City, Minn. in June of 1987 where they fished and enjoyed the abundant wild life in the area. She continued to be very active with her hobbies, including ceramics and gardening. She most of all enjoyed he continued close contact with her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Nothing touched her heart more than the opportunity to gather as a family.
She is survived by her son: Donald (Linda) Armstrong of White Bear Lake, daughters: Patt Sass of Waterloo, Iowa, Judy (Thomas) Gesell of Tiger, Georgia, Granddaughters, Carol (Joel) Wilson, Lynda (Bart) Thompson, Tim Armstrong; great-grandchildren: Glenn and Luke Wolson, Aaron, Katie and Drew Sass, Alexandra and Adrian Thompson, Riley and Jackson Ward, Shane, Zachery and Ashley Henninger, Zachery, Ryan and Eleanor Armstrong; sisters-in-law: Mary Ed sill, Margaret Edsill, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Milly was proceeded in death by her parents Audry and Birdie (Adel (Simmons) Edsill, husband Bill Armstrong, son-in-law Luverne Sass, brothers Raymond Edsill, Russell Edsill, Harold (Katherine) Edsill and sister Dorothy (LaVerne) Vollenweider.
The Reverand Laurie O'Shea officiated at funeral services. 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb 3, at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.".
