June 24, 1925 - "On Tuesday, June 23, at 12 o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Willard, 8 Grant Street, Wellsboro, occurred the marriage of Miss Ruth A. Willard to John Russell Rowe, of Betula, Pa. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W.J. Brown, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, in the presence of the immediate family, the ring service being used. Mr. and Mrs. Rowe started by automobile on an extended wedding trip. After their return they will be at home to their friends in Andover, N.Y., where Mr. Rowe is engaged in business.
Miss Willard is one of the popular young women of Wellsboro, while Mr. Rowe has been one of the successful instructors of the High School, being at the head of Commercial Department. Their host of friends extend best wishes.".

1915-06-03 - "Marion Willard, of this borough, has been appointed a game warden."

1925-02-11 - "Marion Willard, of Grant street, has mounted 12 deer heads this season and every one of them is a fine example of the taxidermist’s art."

1926-03-31 - "An interesting exhibition of the work of Marion D. Willard, taxidermist, of Wellsboro, was on display last week in the show window of the W. W. Lowell & Son hardware store. The collection contained several fine deer heads."

1927-04-20 - "Marion Willard and Allen Hampton went out at 4 a.m. Friday morning and returned at 9 o’clock with the limit catch of trout.

1945-07-25 - "Officials are investigating a shot fired through a window at the home of Marion Willard on Grant street Wednesday night. Mrs. Willard had just left the room. A group of young people were passing the house about that time and it is thought that they may have discharged a revolver. Deputy Sheriff Raymond Miller said the shot might have been fired either from the sidewalk or from the property of Leonard Jessup who resides next door."

1946-02-20 - "Marion Willard is seriously ill at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital."

1949-02-02 - "Marion D. Willard, aged 74 years, died Friday, Jan. 28, at his home, 8 Grant street. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born in Charleston, Tioga County, Pa., Aug. 17, 1874, son of Oliver and Ann Philipin Willard.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Hallock Willard; one daughter, Mrs. J. Russell Rowe, of Wellsboro, and one granddaughter, Miss Margaret Rowe, of West Hartford, Conn.
The funeral was held Monday at the Johnson & Tussey Funeral Home, Rev. Charles E. Titus, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating; burial in the Wellsboro Cemetery."

May 18, 1904 - "Mr. Oliver Willard, aged 68, of Charleston, died suddenly of heart disease, early last Thursday morning. The deceased retired the evening before in apparently his usual health, and at midnight or shortly after, he called his wife, complaining of nausea. He got out of bed and sat up in a chair and while his wife was out of the room he fell to the floor, dead. Mr. Willard's death is mourned by a host of friends and the suddenness of his demise came as a great shock to the whole community.
He is survived by his wife and five children - Mrs. Clayton Bostwick, of Delmar, Mr. Alfred Willard, of Roundtop, Mr. Nathan Willard, of Lumbecreek, Mr. Martin Willard, of Wellsboro and one daughter at home.
Funeral services were held from the home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Joseph Dennis officiating. Burial in the Shumway hill cemetery.".

June 16, 1897 - "Last Wednesday Mr. Alpheus Willard was assisting in raising the frame of a barn on the Seely farm, near the Shumway school-house, when he fell from a plate struck upon his right foot, breaking both bones just above the ankle joint. Dr. M/L. Bacon reduced the fractures."

August 18, 1897 - "Mr. Alpheus Willard, an old resident of Charleston township, died last Friday at the age of 85 years.".

October 11, 1916 - "Mrs. Anna Willard, aged 72 years, widow of the late Oliver Willard, of Delmar, who died about 15 years ago, died last Friday, of heart disease, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clayton Bostwick, on Helvetia street. She was born in England, July 12, 1844. Mrs. Willard is survived by five children -- Mrs. Bostwick, Alfred, Marion and Nathon Willard, and Mrs. Frank Ludlow. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. A.C. Shaw, D.D., officiating; burial in the Shumway Hill cemetery.".

October 13, 1897 - "The two weddings referred to at a former date came off according to the programme on the 6th instant. Mr. Marion Willard, of Charleston, and Miss Maud Halleck, of Brownlee, were married at the home of the bride at 12 pm, Rev. C. Dillenbeck, of this place, being the officiating clergyman. . . "

1908-12-02 - "Mrs. Marion Willard and daughter, Ruth, of Wellsboro, spent Wednesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Hallock, of this place."

1935-05-22 - "Mrs. Marion D. Willard was elected president of the Hornell District Episcopal Foreign Missionary Society, at the district meeting held at the Wellsboro church Tuesday."

1959-03-05 - "Mrs. Maude Hallock Willard, 84, of 8 Grant Street, Wellsboro died Wednesday morning, March 4, 1959 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital after a two months illness.
She was born December 23, 1874 in Sayre, the daughter of N.W. and Jessie Davidson Hallock.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and a member and Past Matron of Mary Wells Chapter, O.E.S.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. Russell Rowe of Wellsboro; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Harrison and two great grandchildren, all of Rochester, N.Y. and one brother, Fred Hallock of Wellsboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 o'clock at 139 Main Street, Rev. Edward T. Read, officiating. Burial will be in the Wellsboro Cemetery.".
