From the January 13, 1938 Flushing Observer. "Eileen Martina Ganssley was born on the Seymore Road about four miles south of Flushing. She attended the Flushing high school as a freshman last year. She enjoyed our glee club that year but was unable to take it this year. She has been, however, in orchestra both years. Last year in the carnival, Martina took part in two of the short skits that were given. As a hobby she keeps scrapbooks. She has one on the Detroit Tigers, one on the Dionne Quints, another filled with favorite short stories cut from magazines or papers, and last but not least, one on a trip she took last year. This sophomore has a camera and likes to take pictures, especially when you don't know about it. Another scrapbook or album holds these pictures. Martina plays the piano too. Her favorite songs are "Rosalie" and "There's a Gold Mine in the Sky." She likes to read and does a lot of it. She has a small library of her own and wants to train at the University of Michigan to become a librarian. She likes to travel and has crossed the straits of Mackinac and saw Sault Ste. Marie and the Locks that link Lake Superior with St. Mary's River. She would like to see Yellowstone National Park. Martina said she thought her biggest thrill happened when she saw the Tigers win over the Yankees. It was the Tigers third game and they had lost the other two. -- Verna May Demeritt".

September 13, 1923 - "Martin Ganessley of Lennon, who has been receiving treatment at the hospital in Ann Arbor, where he underwent a serious operation recently, will be brought to his home there this week. His condition is said to be very critical."
January 17, 1924 - "STATE OF MICHIGAN, The Probate Court for the county of Genesee. At a session of said Court, held at the Probate Office in the city of Flint, in said County, on the 4th day of January, A.D. 1924. Present, Hon. John C. Graves, Judge of Probate. In the matter of the Estate of Martin Gansley, deceased. Lottie Gansley having filed in said court her petition praying that the administration of said estate be granted to herself or to some other suitable person. It is Ordered, That the 31st day of January A.D. 1924, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, at said probate office, be and is hereby appointed for hearing and petition. It is Further Ordered, That public notice thereof be given by publication of a copy of this order, once each week for three successive weeks previous to said day of hearing, in the Flushing Observer, a newspaper printed and circulated in said county. From the Royal Oak Tribune, March 3, 1914. "Miss Lottie Rose, a teacher in the Wyandotte high school, was entertained by her uncle, R.H. Rose, over Sunday."
A newspaper obituary. "GANSSLEY, Lottie J. - of Flushing, age 91, died Friday, January 27, 1984, at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. Maurice D. Sharai Jr. officiating. Burial at Flushing Cemetery. If desired contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 PM at the funeral home under the auspices of OES Chapter 430. Mrs Ganssley was born in Clio, December 30, 1892, the daughter of Daniel and Anna Rose, she married Martin Ganssley who preceded her in death in 1923. She was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church, the West Genesee Chapter of Retired School Personnell. She was a life member of OES Chapter 430 of Swartz Creek. She taught in the Flint School System for many years retiring in 1955. Surviving are: daughter Mrs. Eileen Martina Moloney, of Flushing; grandson, Dan Moloney, of West Patterson, New Jersey; grand-daughter, Maureen Moloney, and husband Doug Peterson of Williamston, several nieces and nephews.".

Rose, well known farmer who resided south of Flushing on the Seymour Road near Corunna Road, passed away this morning, Thursday, at his home, following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon from his home, with Rev. Bert Ede, of Swartz Creek officiating; burial will be at Flushing.".

"MRS. DANIEL ROSE - Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Anna Rose, aged 73, of Clayton Township, who died Thursday afternoon at her home following a heart attack. She had been in ill health for some time. Mrs. Rose was born in Clayton township, April 2, 1869, and had spent the greater part of her life in that vicinity. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane Darling Mundy. She was married to Daniel Rose Feb. 22, 1886 at the Methodist parsonage at Flushing, Rev. Sweet officiating. Mrs. Rose spent the last 31 years at the home in which she passed away. Her husband died Dec. 29, 1938. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Otto Shuman of Swartz Creek and Mrs. Lottie Ganssley; one brother, Raymond C. Mundy of Flint; four grandchildren, Mrs. George Wilcox, Arlene Shuman, Pvt. Wendell Shuman of Fort Devens, Mass., and Martina Ganssley; also several nephews and nieces. Mrs. Rose was a member of the Swartz Creek Chapter, 430, OES. Services were conducted by the Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Sellers of Swartz Creek Methodist church officiating.".
