Our original source for the date of death of Bessie was the Social Security Death Index showing July, 1969. However, that differed from the date shown from the actual card obtained at the funeral home. We went with the date from the Benjamin and Whipple Funeral Home of September 7, 1969.

In the early 1960's, after the death of her husband, Bessie went to live with her nephew, William McKinley Rose. As reported by John William Rose, "Aunt Bessie was a wonderful person. She was a grandma to me and I have great memories of her and her great home-made rolls. Bessie died on a Sunday afternoon. She hadn't been feeling well that day and after dinner when we went out to the garden she sat in her rocking chair and rested. When we came in from the garden we found she had passed. This was in Gaines, MI on grandpa's farm."

From the Wednesday, September 10, 1969 Clio Messenger: "ROSE. Bessie Ellen Rose, 79, of 10108 Sheridan Rd., Gaines, formerly of Clio, died Sunday, September 7, 1969 at the residence.
